Salinas Regional Sports Authority Celebrates Progress in Land Renewal and Expansion plus, Launch of She Kicks Classic Soccer Tournament
Salinas, Calif. — The Salinas Regional Sports Authority (SRSA) is excited to announce a Kick-Off Celebration on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at 10 a.m., highlighting its ongoing efforts to revitalize underutilized land and transform it into vibrant green spaces for recreation and community connection. This milestone celebrates the Phase 2A completion of the Salinas Regional Soccer Complex expansion and the launch of the inaugural She Kicks Classic soccer tournament.
Creating Green Spaces for the Community
With the support of funding partners, SRSA has undertaken critical land renewal efforts to prepare previously unused portions of the property for new soccer fields. This work is part of SRSA’s mission to convert overlooked spaces into welcoming areas for sports and recreation, providing families with greater access to safe outdoor activities.
“Our focus is on creating spaces that enhance the well-being of our community,” said Jonathan De Anda, general manager of SRSA. “By reclaiming this land and transforming it into a thriving recreational hub, we’re creating opportunities for families to connect, play, and grow together.”
Phase 2A and She Kicks Classic: Marking Progress and Empowerment
The completed Phase 2A features two lighted synthetic turf fields, 400 new parking spaces, and a new entrance/exit on Constitution Blvd., offering much-needed improvements for the Salinas community.
The event also celebrates the launch of the first She Kicks Classic soccer tournament in partnership with North Salinas High School. This tournament highlights young female athletes and promotes empowerment through sports.
“This tournament is a celebration of our community’s future,” said Ana Gutierrez, tournament director. “It’s about showcasing the incredible talent of our young women while strengthening connections through competition.”

Programming:
- 10:00 AM: Kick-Off Celebration with Gabriela Sepulveda performance
- 10:30 AM: Program and recognitions, featuring remarks by Senator Anna Caballero, Supervisor Luis Alejo, Senator John Laird, and others
- 12:00 NOON: She Kicks Classic
The event is free and open to the public. Light snacks and refreshments will be served.
