A Message From Our Board of Directors
Dear Friend,
Our community is on a mission: to foster physical, mental, social, and economic well-being in the Salinas Valley area. Our mantra, Más Que Fútbol, encapsulates our dedication to creating safe and inclusive spaces where families and individuals from diverse backgrounds can come together in a shared love of sports and our strong community.
The urgency of our mission is underscored by the findings of Monterey County’s 2022 Community Health Needs Assessment, which identified pressing concerns regarding the physical and mental health crises. We’re addressing these challenges head-on with the Salinas Regional Soccer Complex (SRSC) expansion—enhancing access to athletic facilities, safe greenspaces, recreational opportunities, and access to health care for everyone in our community.
We know that sports serve as a catalyst for personal development, community cohesion, and cultural celebration. We also believe the expansion of the Salinas Regional Soccer Complex holds immense potential for leveraging soccer and other sports as a tool for economic growth in our community. By investing in sports infrastructure, we not only promote physical health and well-being but also stimulate job creation, sports tourism, increased tax revenue, and economic investment back into our community.
Soccer was our starting point but it is not our endpoint. We’re paving the way for a brighter, more active future for generations to come. With a 50 year lease on the land, and the option to extend for an additional 40 years, the Salinas Regional Soccer Complex is uniquely poised to meet the needs of our community. With your support, we’ll complete the ambitious four-phase, community-driven project to ensure Monterey County has world-class facilities for athletics of all kinds, abundant recreation opportunities, and community-building public events.
With gratitude,
Salinas Regional Soccer Complex/Salinas Regional Sports Authority

PARTNERS
The Salinas Regional Sports Authority (SRSA) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that relies entirely on the generosity of our supporters, both large and small. While we are a non-governmental organization, our efforts thrive thanks to the support of the State of California, Monterey County, and the City of Salinas. Our local government partners help us maintain a 90-year lease on the land—50 years initially, with the option for two additional 20-year terms. This arrangement enables us to make long-term investments in quality facilities, ensuring that this state-of-the-art sports complex remains a vital part of Monterey County for generations to come.
Since 2018, the City of Salinas has provided funding for our water and utilities, along with regular ongoing support. Monterey County has contributed nearly $1 million in annual donations since 2019. We have also collaborated with Senator Anna Caballero and Assembly Speaker Robert Rivas to secure $6.2 million in funding from the State of California.
We deeply appreciate the meaningful partnerships with the City of Salinas, Monterey County, and the State of California that have helped us in our mission.

Elevating Women & Girls Through Soccer, Health, and Community
At Salinas Regional Soccer Complex (SRSC), we believe that every woman and girl deserves a place to play, grow, and thrive. Soccer is more than just a game here—it’s a pathway to supporting women’s health. Through Las REINAS, we are breaking down barriers to ensure that women and girls have access to high-quality fields, competitive opportunities, and essential health resources—free or at minimal cost.
For too long, women’s sports have been an afterthought. We’re changing that.
Las REINAS Women’s Initiative, developed by and for local women to improve physical and mental health by increasing equitable (free) access to recreational facilities, open green spaces, and women-focused empowerment
We are deeply embedded in the Salinas, California region, where our leadership, staff, volunteers, and participants reflect the heart of our community—predominantly Latinas. United by a shared love of soccer and family, we foster a sense of belonging for women and girls of all ages and abilities, embracing cultural heritage and inclusivity. We understand that when girls are excluded from sports, they miss vital opportunities for physical health, mental and emotional well-being, and career growth.
The Las R.E.I.N.A.S approach is a holistic model that empowers girls and women in our community. By supporting women, we invest in their growth, helping them become well-rounded individuals and nurturing strong, positive members of society. Our vision is to continue improving physical and mental health outcomes for girls and women, and the Las R.E.I.N.A.S Women’s Initiative is focused on building on this success by:
R) Reducing barriers to recreational facilities and open green spaces.
E) Empowering girls and women through innovative programs and opportunities.
I) Inspiring healthy, active lifestyles with positive role models and messaging.
N) Nurturing new pathways to brighter futures through athletics and education.
A) Amplifying awareness of health resources and preventative care.
S) Sustaining athletic opportunities with long-term funding and support.

A Place to Play: Free, High-Quality Fields for Women & Girls
We believe that cost should never be the reason a girl stops playing the sport she loves. That’s why we make sure our fields remain open and accessible for youth and women’s teams to train, compete, and build community.
From weekend league matches to evening practices, our fields are filled with female athletes who are gaining confidence, building skills, and staying active—without the financial burden.
She Kicks: A Tournament Built for Women
In 2024, we launched the first-ever She Kicks tournament in the Salinas Valley and Monterey County, giving local high-school girls the chance to compete at home. Before She Kicks, young female athletes had to travel hours and pay thousands of dollars to compete in high-level tournaments—barriers that made it nearly impossible for many to participate.
Now, they have a premier tournament right here in their community, where girls can showcase their skills, gain exposure, and compete without the burden of travel costs.
We’re proud to host this tournament as part of our mission to elevate women’s soccer and celebrate the talent in our region.
More Than a Game: Supporting Women’s Health & Wellness
Women and girls in Salinas face serious health disparities that limit their opportunities for long, active lives:
- Two-thirds of local women are overweight or obese, putting them at higher risk for chronic illnesses.
- 50% of women in the region have diabetes or pre-diabetes, and many lack access to preventative care.
Sports change that reality. Regular physical activity has been proven to reduce the risk of heart disease, obesity, diabetes, and depression—and soccer is one of the best ways to stay active for life.
That’s why Las REINAS integrates soccer with health education and free resources to ensure that every woman and girl in our community can build a healthier future.
Our health and wellness initiatives include:
- Walk with a Doc events, where players and families can get active while learning about preventative care.
- Mobile Health Clinics providing free check-ups, vaccines, and wellness services—no insurance required.
- Partnerships with local healthcare providers to integrate sports with long-term health solutions.
By giving women and girls the space to play and the support to stay healthy, we are creating lifelong habits that will benefit them, their families, and our community for generations.
The Future of Las REINAS
We’ve built something incredible—but we’re just getting started.
With additional support, we aim to:
- Train and certify more female coaches so young girls have role models on the field.
- Expand She Kicks into a multi-day event with scouting opportunities for college-bound athletes.
- Launch more free fitness programs designed specifically for women.
- Strengthen our partnerships with healthcare providers to ensure every woman in our program has access to preventative care.
This is our vision: A future where women and girls in Salinas don’t just play—they lead, they thrive, and they inspire the next generation.

Blooming Together Fund
A Home for Dreams, and for All of Us
In the Salinas Valley, the rhythm of life is shaped by hard work, strong values, and deep family ties. Families here plant more than crops—they plant dreams. And for thousands of people every week, those dreams bloom on the fields of the Salinas Regional Soccer Complex.
This is not just a sports facility. It’s a place where young people chase goals on and off the field. It’s where families gather, friends reconnect, and generations move together in celebration of health, culture, and community.
More than 11,000 people use the Salinas Regional Soccer Complex every week—and that number continues to grow. Nearly all are Latino families—many with roots in agriculture—who are raising children, supporting loved ones, and striving for something better. What they find here is a space that honors who they are and who they want to become.
The Salinas Regional Soccer Complex is beautiful, clean, and open. It’s full of laughter, movement, and shared pride. Children play, grandparents walk, teens lead and coach, and parents watch with joy. It is a living example of what happens when a community creates a place for itself—not just to gather, but to grow.
Where community takes root, and opportunity blooms.
Health Begins with Access
Across Monterey County, families are working hard—but still facing serious health challenges. 70% of adults and 42% of children are overweight or obese, and nearly 50% of all adults are living with diabetes or pre-diabetes. Only 25% of youth meet the recommended levels of physical activity. At the same time, mental health needs continue to rise, particularly among young people. One-third of local youth report feeling emotionally overwhelmed or depressed—and access to care remains out of reach for many families.
That’s what makes the Salinas Regional Soccer Complex so vital. It offers families a safe, welcoming place to be active together. A game becomes a ritual. A weekend match becomes the highlight of the week. And a kick becomes a goal.
And in that shared space, health takes root—not through obligation, but through joy. Families who gather here are investing in their own well-being, one step, one pass, one laugh at a time.
Where Futures Are Forged
Soccer is more than a pastime in the Salinas Valley—it’s a passion passed from one generation to the next. And for young people, it can be a pathway.
National data shows that students who play organized sports perform better in school, are more likely to graduate, and have greater long-term earning potential. They build confidence, resilience, and leadership. They learn what it means to show up—not just for their team, but for their lives.
The Salinas Regional Soccer Complex makes those outcomes possible—not just for a few, but for many. These are world-class fields, maintained to professional standards, yet open to the community. Access to fields is free for kids’ teams and women’s leagues. That means cost isn’t a barrier. Geography isn’t a barrier. Opportunity blooms here—and it’s for everyone.
Young athletes here don’t have to leave town for top-tier play. They don’t have to miss out on scouting opportunities. They grow their skills on the same fields used for tournaments and showcases, right in their own hometown.
And their families are right there with them—cheering from the sidelines, walking the path around the fields, sharing meals under the sun. It’s not just youth development or a casual pastime. It’s community development, rooted in culture and love.
A Place to Take Pride In
The Salinas Regional Soccer Complex is a source of pride because it reflects the very best of our community—commitment, care, and collective progress. Families return each week not only because it’s fun, but because it’s theirs. Of the community, for the community, funded by the community and your generous support. It’s a place where the surroundings match the spirit of the people who use it: vibrant, grounded, and full of potential.
This is what the Fondo Florenciendo Juntos supports: a space where young people blossom, where health blooms—body and mind—and where the roots of opportunity are nurtured every day. The name means “Blooming Together Fund”—and that’s exactly what this place is.
How to Help It Grow
Your support of the Fondo Florenciendo Juntos ensures this vital space continues to flourish. Every contribution helps keep the Salinas Regional Soccer Complex safe, beautiful, and accessible for more than 11,000 people each week as it continues to grow. Every gift helps protect free access to our heritage fields for children and women. Every dollar keeps this place strong—for today’s families and for the generations to come.
Whether you give $5, $15, $25, or more—every gift makes a difference. All donors to the Fondo Florenciendo Juntos will be recognized on our website. You can make your contribution using the donation form on this page or in person at the Salinas Regional Soccer Complex.
